About

brain-dump.com is a weblog and a collection of articles with tech-culture related subjects. It was founded in Juli 2003, by Michael Schmidt and Esther Schmitz.

We got the idea for this site when we talked about how we really should write down solutions to computer related problems we had. There are some things that you keep looking up because you don't use them often enough to remember them the next time you need them. Also people would ask us how we do certain things (like how we rip our CDs). And then we thought there must be more people out there who want to know these things. We had to do a lot of research on the web to learn all the facts. But wouldn't it be cool if there were a single place where you can find all kinds of helpful hints and references for further reading to certain topics?

So now we started this site and sent a "call for papers" to all our friends in hopes they have something to contribute as well. We hope this site will grow into a little community where everybody writes about anything they want other people to know, be it tips on how to custom-build your own computer, or hints about how to earn money fast in EverQuest. Anything goes.

Michael Schmidt - Editor, Publisher

Michael Schmidt

Michael currently lives and works in Berlin, Germany. He has been a computer nut since age 7. It all started with a Sinclair ZX81 which is still working today. 1K of RAM was barely enough to play Space Invaders so soon a Commodore C16, an Atari ST, and countless x86s followed...

He just recently received a Diploma in Computer Science from the Technical University of Berlin and now works as internet consultant for CrashedPixels.

Esther Schmitz - Editor

Esther Schmitz

Esther studied Computer Science at the Univerity of Karlsruhe and the Technical University of Berlin. When she grows up she wants to be a game designer. Until then she spends most of her time playing and thinking about all kind of games.

She is an internet consultant for CrashedPixels and maintains a personal weblog at www.adognamedfish.com.

In addition to the two editors, hopefully many writers will contribute to brain-dump.com. If you want to see your profile here, stock up on caffeine and dump your brain.
